Dr. Leitner received his undergraduate degree from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He went on to graduate with his medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina, also in Charleston. Dr. Leitner served an internship at Letterman Army Medical Center, Presidio of San Francisco, California. He then performed his residency in surgery at Silas B. Hays Hospital in Fort Ord, California, and his residency in urology at Letterman Army Medical Center, Presidio of San Francisco, California.

Thomas C. Leitner, M.D. is certified by the American Board of Urology. He is the author of numerous publications, including "Autologous Blood Transfusion and Radical Prostate Surgery; A Clinical Application".
