Special Procedures
Special procedures offered are:

• Cystoscopy - This procedure, performed under anesthesia, involves examining the bladder's inner surface (epithelium) with a miniature, fiberoptic camera or "scope" that is inserted through the urethra into the bladder. The cystoscopy is important because it allows your physician to examine the interior of the bladder for cancer or stones. During the cystoscopy, a bladder biopsy may be performed and the tissue sample examined for mast cells seen specifically in interstitial cystitis.

• TUNA - State College Urologic Associates is pleased to offer Transurethral Needle Ablation of the Prostate (TUNA) for the treatment of BPH. Performed right in our office under local anesthesia, TUNA is a non-surgical option for the treatment of BPH. Call for an appointment to see if you would be a candidate for this minimally invasive procedure.
