Training
Dr. Charles Wallace earned his B.A. in chemistry/biology from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1973. During his undergraduate education, he spent a semester studying in Osaka, Japan, as part of his minor in East Asian Studies. He then received his medical degree from Howard University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., in 1978.
His post-graduate medical training included a surgical internship and a urologic residency at Howard University Hospital and affiliated hospitals, including Walter Reed Army Hospital, Children's Hospital, and D.C. General Hospital. He was a chief resident at D.C. General Hospital in his final year as a resident.
He completed his formal training in 1983 although he continues to expand on his training by taking professional courses in the latest methods, such as ultrasonography, renal shock wave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy, and laser surgery.

Current Professional Activities
Though treating all kinds of urologic concerns, Dr. Charles Wallace has developed specialties in treating male infertility, impotence, incontinence, kidney stones, prostate cancer, interstitial cystitis, female urology, and pediatric urology. Dr. Wallace is one of the few urologists in the area offering microwave thermotherapy for BPH (enlarged prostate).
Dr. Wallace is also involved in the study of new treatment methods in his role as a principal investigator for Amgen Inc. and Praecis Pharmaceuticals.
In 1994, he received a fellowship from the National Cancer Institute to study pediatric HIV disease and oncology.
Dr. Wallace is currently an honorary co-chair of the Physicians' Advisory Board of the U.S. Congressional committees.
Professional Affiliations
Dr. Charles Wallace is affiliated with the American Board of Urology and he is a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS)- Urology Section, both of which are indications of extensive work and understanding of urology and urologic surgery. Dr. Wallace maintains memberships in both regional and national medical societies including the American Medical Association, the American Urological Association, the American Association of Clinical Urologists, National Medical Association, and the Christian Medical and Dental Society.

Community Involvements
Some of Dr. Wallace's wider interests are evident in his many other involvements. Dr. Wallace is a licensed minister with Temple of Deliverance (Church of God in Christ/ C.O.G.I.C.), under Bishop G.E. Patterson. Dr. Wallace is their chairman of the Health and Healing Ministry. He is also an ordained elder and a national adjutant with the Church of God in Christ. As part of his church-related work, he is asked to speak around the country on health prevention topics.
Also, Dr. Wallace testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Health Care for the Indigent in 1991 during his medical directorship at Lee County Co-Op Clinic in Marianna, Arkansas. He has since been a spokesman and presenter for the American Cancer Society on prostate cancer and related diseases.

Awards
In recognition of his many contributions to the field of medicine, Dr. Wallace has received some distinguished awards including a Physician Recognition Award from the American Medical Association. He also received first prize for his case reports paper presentation on neurofibroma of prostate from Howard University Hospital.
In 2001, Dr. Wallace received a Community Service Award from the Church Health Center in Memphis.
